Toronto Forum 2024: Integration Pathways for Educational Equity and Digital LearningToronto, Canada, October 18, 2024- As digital learning tools become widely applied globally, ensuring educational equity and inclusivity has become a major challenge facing the international education community. Today, the Forum on Educational Equity, jointly hosted by the International Digital Education Alliance (IDEA) and the International Institute for Global Education, was grandly held in Toronto, Canada. The forum brought together education policymakers, technical experts, and academic researchers from five continents to engage in in-depth discussions on the theme of "Accessibility, Equity, and Inclusivity in Digital Learning."
The forum explored three key issues: first, experts analyzed the current state of uneven global learning resource allocation in the context of the digital divide and proposed solutions; second, the global compatibility and localization adaptation of multilingual learning systems became a hot topic; finally, IDEA officially released its new generation "Adaptive Certification Assessment System" solution, which cleverly integrates equity considerations with structural standard requirements, gaining widespread recognition from the delegates.
Dr. Amina Mohammed, UN Special Envoy for Education, emphasized in her keynote speech: "The proliferation of digital learning should narrow, not widen, global educational gaps. The adaptive assessment system proposed by IDEA provides us with a valuable thinking framework that both respects regional differences and adheres to basic standards, contributing wisdom to the construction of a more equitable global education ecosystem."
The forum also served as an important platform for IDEA to officially announce the launch of its Global Inclusive Education Assessment Project. Over the next three years, this project will collaborate with educational institutions worldwide to promote the practical application of the adaptive certification assessment system, with continuous optimization of relevant standards and tools based on implementation outcomes. IDEA Regional Director Maria Gonzalez stated: "We firmly believe that technology should be a force for promoting educational equity, not creating new divides. Through this project, we hope to provide global educational institutions with an assessment framework that combines flexibility and rigor." |
